 Add To

A Scottish chief. An English maiden. Their forbidden love threatens to destroy them both.

The Chief

The Scottish king gives Toren Kerr a dangerous but important mission—kill the English Warden. The man’s rumored corruption threatens to destroy the fragile peace along the border, and Toren reluctantly agrees to do his duty. When he travels to England to participate in the Tournament of the North as a cover for his mission, the last thing he expects is to find love, but he’s immediately drawn to a beautiful, mysterious Englishwoman. . . only to discover she’s the warden’s daughter.

The Maiden

Books are Lady Juliette Hallington’s escape from her sheltered life. Tales of romance are her favorite, and they’ve convinced her there’s only one reason to marry: love. When her protective father agrees to send her to the tournament with no guardian other than her married best friend, she recognizes her chance to avoid an arranged marriage. But after meeting Toren, Juliette begins to realize real life is more complicated than tales of love—and the very thing she wants most might consume everything she holds dear.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Juliette Hallinton has been told by her father who she is going to marry . She wants to find love and the tournament seems to be her best chance.  The Scots and the English meet for the tournament as a way of trying to keep the fragile peace.
Toren Kerr,  Chief of Clan Kerr has been ordered to kill the border warden because he has been taking bribes in favour of the English.  There can be no lasting peace without the confidence that all be be treated equal.
Our naughty and adventurous heroine knows exactly what she wants and is not afraid to go and ask for it.
Our hero must bide his time until his target arrives.  He spends that time investigating the charges of corruption,  but his target´s daughter is proving to be a distraction.
A story full of intrigue and difficult decisions.  The fun filled romance will entertain you while you wait for disaster to hit.
This is part of a series but easily read as a stand alone.  You will meet others from the previous books that will tempt you to read them.
I loved it.

Cecelia is the author of medieval romance.

A former English teacher, Cecelia combines two of her passions, romance novels and the middle ages, in debut novel The Thief’s Countess. Combining alpha male types and strong female heroines, Cecelia transports readers to an admittedly romanticized time of knights and castles.

After reading Johanna Lindsey and Judith McNaught, she started a manuscript twenty years ago when medieval romance was at its height of mainstream popularity. Picking it back up in 2015 when vampires and highlanders reigned supreme, Cecelia stuck to the genre she loved and brought medieval England back to life.

She lives in Northeast, Pennsylvania with her husband and two young children where she can be found either planning a Disney trip, watching period dramas or convincing her children to watch Star Wars. She is firmly House Stark and Gryffindor.
